Many factors play role in having a healthy body

While genetics and external factors beyond a man's control play a role in overall fitness, the top threats to men's health are largely preventable.

Leading the list are heart disease, cancer and unintentional injury.

While protection against unintentional injury can be difficult beyond taking standard safety precautions, the fight against heart disease and cancer is one men can fight far in advance of diagnosis. For example, maintaining a healthy diet and exercise routine can help keep men healthy.

In addition, reducing stress or learning ways in which to cope successfully with stress can make a big difference. Routine health visits also can identify potential health threats.
