Dr. Ateeq Ahmed S. Patel, general surgeon at Castleview Hospital, was recently awarded the prestigious Hind Rattan Award at the 29th International Congress of NRI's in New Dehli, India. The Hind Rattan Award (Jewel of India) is given yearly to about 30 to 50 members of the worldwide Indian diaspora (comprising the categories of both non-resident Indians and persons of Indian origin) by the NRI Welfare Society of India, at a ceremony in connection with the yearly "International Congress of Non Resident Indians", held since 1982 on or around the Indian Republic Day in New Dehli. Dr. Patel was presented his award by Dr. Karan Singh, ICCR president. Dr. Singh congratulated the recipients for making a significant contribution to the growth of India.
