Elementary school raises funds, creates unique reading pit for students to enjoy

Christopher Vlamakis, Julian Tamllos, Colton Fluharty, Steven Cloward and Shauntel Peterson enjoy the new reading pit at Sally Mauro Elementary School in Helper. The space includes brightly colored cushions and matching curtains. The pit was created with money from a fundraiser at a recent book fair. The students are 'fighting over opportunities to read in the new space,' commented Sally Mauro librarian Sherrie Vlamakis.
