Lady Dinos take it out of Park
After a week of tough losses it was a relief for the Lady Dino softball team to get back to winning ways. In front of a hometown crowd, Carbon made short work of their game against the Park City Miners with a four inning, 15-1 win.
Park City started off making contact against Dino pitcher Kenzie Cave. After the first batter for the Miners scored and runners on first and second with no outs, Carbon settled down and ended the inning without further damage. Park City would never threaten again.
In their half of the frame, the Dinos bounced backto go up 3-1. Four more scored for Carbon in the second inning. The third inning was the quietest for the Dinos and they put up a goose egg.
In the fourth Carbon capitalized on the Miner's fielding woes and ran them right out of the game with nine.
Alexis Oliver and Nikki Williams each ended with a double while Darrian Smith pounded out a three bagger in the Dino offensive barrage.
Coach Tony Pinedo was all smiles after the game.
"Well one of four under our belts" he stated, "We are going to have four wins before the end of the week We are going to win all four."
As the JV team prepared to take the field for their game against Park City, Pinedo tipped his head towards the field and said he wanted to make sure people knew just how successful they have been.
They just finished a four game tournament over the weekend where they won every game even over some much bigger schools.
Only two of the current varsity team members are seniors, so the JV is also many of the of the varsity as well as the younger players. Pinedo is excited about what that group of girls and the JV coaches are doing.
This Thursday the varsity will travel to American Fork for a pair of non-region games.
On Friday, ALA will take on the Lady Dinos for a region match-up beginning at 3:30 p.m. on the Dino softball field.
