Months in the making, construction of the new Price Senior Center is plugging along, and according to project manager Tom McCrary, workers are "making good progress" and quickly "closing things up."

Completion of the facility is expected on or around July 15.

At a monthly meeting of the Carbon County Recreation & Transportation Special District in Price on Monday, April 5, McCrary proudly rattled off a series of construction accomplishments completed, or nearly finished, including irrigation, landscape gutters, steel erection, stone veneer, tile work in kitchen and bathroom, last of metal stud framing, fire supression system, wall insulation, painting in administration areas and classrooms, storefront glass, HVAC duct work in the theater and game room, glass doors and framework, roof shingles, ceramics and drywall in kitchen area, work in panel room and light pole erection, among other items.

Soon, kitchen equipment and appliances will be installed, a suspended ceiling grid attached and Nielson Construction will begin paving the parking lot.

"Over the next two to three weeks, you will see a lot of changes, he told the board. "As of right now, I'd say we're about 68-70 percent complete. We're pretty well closed up and are making good progress."

He did report, however, that he had to get on the electrical team about the AC/DC and some other electrical work, but overall he was very pleased with the direction of the project. "It's been a hard winter," he said, "but I'm very excited about where we are right now. I'm looking forward to July 15.

"This has been a fun project," he added.

"These workers have done a fantastic job and we are all proud of their efforts."
