Crash on US-6 injures three

SOLDIER SUMMIT - A two car accident on a section of U.S. 6 between the Wasatch County line and Soldier Summit left three people injured, including one in critical condition.
At approximately 10:25 a.m. Friday morning, a gold Ford 500 sedan was driving eastbound when the driver, who was not identified, allegedly crossed over into oncoming traffic, hitting a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado pickup head-on.
The pickup had two passengers, who were also not identified, including a 4-year-old boy. The accident caused the truck to drop down an embankment about 50 to 60 feet from the road.
According to Utah State Highway Patrol Trooper Greg Funk, the stretch of road where the accident occurred was slightly snow-covered and icy. He also said that the driver of the Ford may have been driving too fast for the conditions of the road.
The driver of the Ford, a 60-year-old male, was found unconscious at the scene and was transported by a Lifeflight helicopter to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo, in critical condition, according to Funk.
The occupants of the Chevy truck, a 35-year-old male and his 4-year-old son, were transported by ambulance to Castleview Hospital in Price with serious injuries, according to Funk.
Respondents to the scene included the Utah Highway Patrol, Carbon County ambulance and fire department, a Lifeflight helicopter from Provo and tow trucks from Helper.
The highway was closed in both directions for over two hours and left traffic backed up for miles.
