Dinos roar: Rush off to 6-0 record
Two big wins last week kept the Carbon baseball team undefeated for the season with a 6-0 record.
On Wednesday, March 17, in front of a home crowd, the Dinos came up big in the sixth inning against Emery to emerge victorious, 12-2.
It was not much of a contest on Friday, March 19 against Grand as Carbon had two more big innings and crushed the Red Devils, 19-0, to remain undefeated.
On Wednesday, Carbon began the game with a run in the first. They also had bases loaded with no outs and failed to score any more. They put up two more in the third to take a 3-0 lead.
The game stayed that way until the fifth when Emery pushed a pair across and the game tightened up. But in the sixth, the bats woke up for the Dinos and when the dust settled, nine runs had crossed the plate. The Spartans had no answer in their half of the frame.
Seth Tryon led the explosion with a three-run homer in the sixth. Beau Rich and Julian Tamllos each had a two bagger in the game. Gage Bigelow got the win off the mound.
On Friday, it only took two innings for the Dinos to establish their power. They exploded for eight in the second and another nine runs in the fourth to set the tone.
Grand's defense was spotty and they committed a whooping 14 errors from the field.
Daniel Peczuh had a good day at the plate with a pair of doubles. Keny Seals and Tryon also had a double in the Dino offensive extravaganza. Rich was the winning pitcher.
Highland will be in Price on Wednesday to try and knock down the soaring Dinos with a game start at 3:30 p.m. On Thursday, Carbon will travel to Mountain View for their final preseason contest.
