Fundraiser aides youth cancer victim
On Saturday, March 6, Job's Daughters Bethel 3 of Price held a benefit soup dinner for ten year old Nathan Gerkin, a Price boy who was diagnosed with bone cancer last year. Nathan had surgery in November and just finished chemo and radiation treatment, and he is doing quite well.
The Bethel decided that they wanted to do something to help Nathan and his family with the expenses of traveling back and forth to Salt Lake City for his treatments, and they chose a soup dinner as their project for this term.
Members of the Bethel cooked soups, made salads, and helped serve at the dinner, which was attended by Nathan and his mother, Heather Nay, as well as his grandparents, Terry and Sandy Nay, and many friends and family.
In all, over 200 people came out to support the dinner, which raised over $1,300 for Nathan.
