The CEU Men's basketball team fell just short of finishing in first place in conference play this weekend as they lost to league leading Northern Idaho 87-78 last Thursday night.

To secure the second place slot, the club still had to beat Southern Idaho on Saturday and they did, easily rolling over CSI, 90-68.

For the women, there was nothing at stake for them as their spot in the standings was already settled.

They ended the season in fifth place. Over the weekend they lost 80-62 to Northern Idaho and then 85-52 to Southern Idaho.

The lady Eagles will get to face fourth-ranked Snow College in the opening game at the SWAC tournament this Thursday with tip-off at 5:30 p.m.. If they win they take on No. 1 seed Salt Lake Community College on Friday at 7 p.m.

A second-place finish for the CEU men earned them a first round bye.

They will not take the floor until 2 p.m. on Friday when they will meet the winner of the Salt Lake-Colorado Northwestern match-up.

That game will be played at 2 p.m. on Thursday.

The CEU B-DAC will be the site of intense college basketball tournament action this weekend as both the SWAC men and women vie for the region title and a chance at playing in the national NJCAA tournament.

This is the first time CEU has hosted this event.

Complete information about the tournament, including times, brackets and ticket prices is included in this week's Sun Advocate supplement, section C.
