ALABAMA/HUNTINGTON - Fred H. Durand passed away peacefully Feb. 14, 2010 at home with family in Alabama. He was born Feb. 27, 1924 to Louis and Louise Durand in Huntington. He lived in Emery County until his mid-forties where he worked the farm with his parents and also in the local coal mines.

He received a degree in electronics and with his brother, Emery, worked at NASA and was involved with Saturn V - the moon mission.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Liz and son, Tommy. He is survived by four daughters; Fay, Sharon, Linda, Karen and their families, all in Alabama; his siblings: Marie Lott, Price, Emery Durand, Athens, Ala. and Isabelle Oveson, Huntington; and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews who will miss his many tales.

He was a kind and unique man; always putting his family and friends before himself. He will be greatly missed.
