The last time Carbon and Park City met up, the game stayed close for a full three quarters until the Lady Dinos got serious and put things away. This time it was less than five minutes into the first quarter before the Miners found themselves left in the dust as the Lady Dinos buried them 82-40 Friday night.

Park City hit the first points of the game and for a short time the game stayed pretty even. Then with things tied at eight, Carbon went on a 33-0 run that lasted well into the second quarter.

Coach Cami Carlson emptied her bench before the Miners could find a way to put a point on the board. The seven points that the Park City starting five did manage in the second quarter were all off the youngest Dinos on the bench.

The Carbon starting core were back in to start the third, and quickly moved the deficit for Park City to more than 20. Coach Carlson had the luxury of liberally rotating her entire bench in and out to get some really good court time. Thirteen Lady Dinos scored in all.

Sara Potts was top scorer for the night with 15. Mariah Pollock also had a good night as she added 13. Tia Pappas followed with 12. Pappas also was responsible for 10 steals from the Miners as well as dishing out six assists. Kylee Lessar was top on the boards, pulling in nine while scoring eight. She was named garbage girl of the team.

Carlson explained how her team was able to look so sharp.

"It wasn't a fun week at practice, it was intense," she said. "We introduced new things, worked on getting better at other things and refined our game as a whole. The girls took it seriously and I am pleased to see how well they bought into the new things we threw at them. We had a bit of a let down in the third when we were up, but all in all they all played well and contributed to this big win."

The Lady Dinos sit in third place in Region 10 and moving up may be difficult, if not impossible. Union is at 5-1, while Carbon is at 3-3. Carbon would have to beat ALA and then Union who would also have to lose to Park City.

Then the two would be tied at 5-3. Unless Park City plays at a whole different level than last night, the likelihood of them beating Union is miniscule.

The Lady Dinos travel to play ALA on Tuesday at 7 p.m.and the wrap things up in Roosevelt at 5:15 p.m. on Friday night against Union.
