Letters to the editor: We need a voice
By Tammy Houskeeper Salt Lake City
Editor,
The president of P.U.R.E , Eric Mainord wrote of "The Watchers," on Jan. 19, 2010 (Letters to the editor, Sun Advocate). In trying to bring "important points" to the Nine Mile Coalition, brought some superlatively outlandish attention to himself.
Mr. Mainord made the choice to independently insult Pam Miller calling her "the go-to gal" for the press. Pam Miller is part of the coalition, which is a group. The choice to use "go-to gal," is absurd phrasing. The approach taken to disgrace individuals to the press, would make one question Mr. Mainord's competencies? While pushing propaganda locally, the coalition was all over the news locally and internationally, Mr. Mainord lashed out in Carbon County, wondering about the money the coalition has raised for the enjoyment of the canyon.
Put your money where your mouth goes. Where is all the money P.U.R.E. raised? To unremittingly be so self absorbed is criminal. To talk of corporation money and volunteer money is hideous.
Opinion is not to lash out... each is entitled. With all due respect Mr. Mainord, maybe your should choose different phrasing when you're angry.
The Nine Mile Coalition should be thanked, including individuals such as Steve Hansen of Holladay for their hard work. It means so much to those who look at Nine Mile Canyon as a back yard of beauty. People do care. We need a voice.
