OREM - Pearl Iris Richardson Casey, a treasured Pearl in our lives, peacefully passed away Sunday, Jan. 31, 2010 in Orem. Pearl was born June 6, 1910, to James Dennis and Edna Cummings Richardson in Midvale. She lived life to the fullest in her youth. She loved riding Harleys, ran a police officer off the road in a Model T (accidentally of course), flew in an airplane, and hiked to Balance Rock. Never growing old, she drove a 4-wheeler at 94!
Pearl married Edward Jonathan Casey May 16, 1934. Marriage provided her greatest blessings in life, including her four children. Eddie and Pearl moved into their home on Garden Street in Helper, in 1934, where they raised their family and continued together until Eddie's passing on Oct. 31, 1977. Pearl lived at Garden Street in the little white home with the big Christmas tree for a total of 71 years. Their marriage was solemnized in the Provo Temple December 1997.
Pearl had many talents that blessed the lives of all those around her. She loved to crochet, sew, play the piano, and garden, especially her roses. She faithfully watered and cared for them well into her nineties. Pearl always shared her love for the gospel of Jesus Christ, but especially during her mission to San Jose Calif. in 1979. She especially loved her grandchildren. All were happy to come to grandma's home, climbing the willow tree, swinging and swimming, hiking to Elephant Rock, playing in the back of the old truck, and especially throwing rocks from Swinging Bridge.
Pearl is survived by her four children: Kathryn (Terry, deceased) Hill, Richfield, Utah; Gerald (Jean) Casey, Belleville, Illinois; Gordon (Merrilyn) Casey, Orem; Patricia (Francis) Cherry, Highland; 18 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, and her dear friend Stacey Warburton. Preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers and sisters, granddaughters, Merrilyn Pearl and Ann Marie Casey; and great-grandson, Taylor Jones.
Funeral services, will be held 12 noon, Saturday, Feb 6, 2010, at the Orem LDS Ward, 1546 N. 1100 W. Orem. Family and friends may call Saturday morning from 10-11:45 a.m. prior to the services. Interment will be at the Provo City Cemetery.

Do you think the Utah Legislature should increase appropriations for public education in Utah beyond the current legislative trend in the past few years of funding only for growth in student population?
