Samantha Olson, general sterling scholar and Shaylee Donathan, math sterling scholar, presents a check to the American Red Cross. Accepting the $500 check is John Stone American Red Cross mass care chairman from the Mountain Valley Chapter in Provo. The Sterling Scholars at Carbon High School directed a fundraiser by asking the students, classroom by classroom, to place whatever cash they wanted to donate in a boot for the victims of the recent earthquake in Haiti. Students were also allowed to wear hats on Friday with an additional donation of two dollars with the funds going to the Haiti cause as well.
