HELPER - Irene Daskalos Hovat, age 85, passed away January 27, 2010 in Price while surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Aug. 19, 1924 in Price to John K. Daskalos, Sr. and Mary Vorinakis.
She married Tom Hovat on Nov. 10, 1944 in Salt Lake City. They later divorced.
She was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church. Graduate of Carbon High School class of 1942 and attended Carbon College.
Irene was an insurance agent since 1966 and was the first women agent in Utah with Prudential Life Insurance. She worked extensively with photos, genealogy, and family history. Irene loved working in her yard with her flowers and lawn always perfect.
Irene loved the Chicago Cubs and fulfilled her life dream of going to Wrigley Field in 20007. Her keen mind never failed to amaze her children and grandchildren. She selflessly did things for everyone she knew.
She is survived by her children, Mary Tonks, Pocatello, ID; Mike Hovat, Spring Glen; Nick Hovat and Terry :Malloy, Tucson, AZ; Christy (Shawn) Baker, Fairbanks, Alaska; eight grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; brother John (Thelma) Daskalos, Jr., Ogden; sister, Phyllis Marsing, Salt Lake City; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Preceded in death by her parents, son Thomas John Hovat, Jr. and her infant brother.
