The Carbon High dive team was small this year. Only one diver on the team was able to qualify to attend the region dive meet. That diver was Nick Torrez and he represented his team and Carbon well by taking top honors in 2/3A competition.

Torrez faced four other divers in his classification and competed against 15 total from 5A classification on down. Overall he took third.

Coach Stew Foster was very pleased with Torrez' performance, but stated he needed to work on his doubles. Foster said that Torrez was exceptional on his inward 1 ½ and his forward 1 ½, but on his doubles didn't kick out and enter the water straight. With a few weeks to work out the kinks, Foster is hopeful that Torrez will be one of the top contenders at the state level. 5A through 2A divers all compete against each other at the state meet so competition is fierce.

The state meet will take place at the BYU pool on Feb. 11.
