Shortly before mid-night on Dec. 7, a family member notified the Price City Police Department that a male subject had reportedly assaulted and threatened a female family member with a loaded shotgun. The individual was reported armed with several weapons and allegedly indicated that if police arrived there would be an armed confrontation.

Officers of the Price City Police Department, the Utah Highway Patrol and the Carbon County Sheriff's Office isolated the home located in southwest Price. Members of the Price Police Emergency Response Team (B. Sicilia, R. Radley, B. Judd and K. Mele) responded to the home and at about 3 a.m. and made forced entry into the residence.

Within the home the male suspect, Gary Hinkins, 39 of Price, was taken into custody. The suspect was reportedly well armed with a loaded shotgun, pistol and rifle; with an ample supply of ammunition.

Hinkins was arrested for aggravated assault (domestic violence), criminal mischief (domestic violence), possession of paraphernalia, and a misdemeanor active warrant, and was booked into the Carbon County Jail.
