Lady Eagles manage tough win, tough loss on the road

It was a tough road trip for CEU Women's Basketball team this week.

Over the weekend the CEU womans basketball team travel to Casper, WY for the Pizza Hut Invitational.

The team managed a win sandwiched between a pair of losses.

On Thursday night they were beat 64-54 by host team Casper.

On Friday they pulled out a 59-54 win against Miles City. Then they wrapped it up with a 64-53 loss to Colby, Kan.

On Thursday the team was already down four at the half and were unable to close the gap in the second period. Kaylie Robison recorded a double/double with 11 rebounds and 16 points.

CEU won a close one on Saturday by beating the Lady Pioneers from Miles City College, Mon.

The Pioneers jumped out to an early lead but the Eagles clawed their way back into the game and tied the game at 29 at the break.

Bruna Deichmann was CEU's go-to player.

She shot five to seven from the field for 11 first half points. In the second half the Eagles held on to win by five.

CEU had three players in double figures.

Bruna Deichmann led all scorers with 15 points, Libby Alon scored 11 and Kaylie Robison added 10.

Finishing up the weekend the Lady Eagles faced Colby Community College from Kansas. Colby led by just one point at half time. But then they could not be stopped in the second half as they went onto defeat the Eagles by nine.

Deichmann had a big game scoring 22 points.

Kaylie Robison snagged 16 rebounds and added nine points. The team opened conference action on Tuesday against Colorado Northwestern. No scores available at press time.

The team is in Ephraim to take on Snow on Friday night and then head to Salt Lake for a game Saturday.
