MURRAY - Robert G. Tidwell, beloved husband, father grandfather and great-grandfather, 88, passed away Nov. 14, after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. He was surrounded by his family at his home.
Robert was born in Murray, on Aug. 7, 1921 to Gladys Marie Park Tidwell and Guy Tidwell. On Aug.28, 1943 he married Marian Stauffer in Clovis, N.M.. He and Marian were later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.
Robert attended Granite High School and joined the military during World War II.
He was a sergeant in the 8th Air Force in Europe as a communications specialist. Robert was employed by JC Penney for over 40 years where he managed stores in Utah and Kansas. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Robert was also ardently involved in community affairs in Price.
He had a passion for history and was constantly prompted by his family to share his knowledge and military experience.
Robert is survived by his wife of 66 years, Marian Tidwell of Murray, daughter Marsha (Jon) Stimac of Fort Collins, Colo., and son Robert (Carolyn) Tidwell of Murray.
He is also survived by seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Nov. 18, 2009, at Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Chapel in Murray. Interment was at the Murray City Cemetery after the services.
