Spending most of their preseason time on the road, the CEU woman's basketball team headed south to Yuma Arizona for the Desert Classic Tournament Nov. 12 and 13.

The Lady Eagles picked up their first win of the young season against Yavapai, beating them 58-56. The next night a stronger Arizona College team handed them their third defeat of the year with a 63-49 loss. The Eagles are 1-3 on the season.

Against Yavapai, the Lady Eagles started strong and built a 28-19 lead at the half. But Yavapai came back and made it a close game until the final buzzer, with CEU holding on for the two point win. Kaylie Robinson was the dominant force for the Lady Eagles. She scored 26 points and pulled in nine rebounds to help secure the win.

Against Arizona, the Lady Eagles struggled to get the ball to drop through the net. They shot a mere 25 percent from the floor. They found themselves down 23 by the half. They did finally get on track and outscored Arizona by nine in the final period, but it just wasn't enough.

Bruna Deichmann did manage 12 points to lead the CEU women. Robinson continued to work the boards and pulled in another 10 rebounds.

The team now heads north to Casper, WY for three days Nov 19-21.

They will meet up with Casper College, Miles City Community College and Colby Community College on this road trip.

They will begin conference play against Colorado Northwestern On Tuesday Nov. 23 with tip off at 3 p.m. in the BDAC. The men's game will follow at 5 p.m.
