Monica Shorts sets the ball for a fellow Dino teammate during last weeks home game held at Carbon High. The Dinos defeated Delta 15-12, 15-2 to keep their winning streak alive as the team jumps to a 5-0 season start in Region 8 action.

The Dinos winning streak is alive and well as the volleyball team chalked up their fifth victory of the season against Region 8 opponent Delta.

Carbon hosted the Rabbits last Thursday evening and found themselves battling for control of the game during the first set. The Dinos jumped out ahead of the Rabbits early by scoring five unanswered points.

The Rabbits then rallied to push past the Dinos 6-5. At this point, the Dinos took a valuable time out and jumped at the chance to reflect on what was happening on the court.

After a brief discussion with coach Bruce Bean, the Dinos returned to the floor where they seemed to regain focus of the game and the battle continued.

Any error that was made by either team was capitalized upon by the opponent. The score reflected the level of competition as the game remained close up until the end. Carbon rallied to win the battle by the final score 15-12.

In the second set, Carbon kept the flame burning as the team stepped up to dish out Delta a second consecutive loss, 15-2.

The Dinos had found their focus and easily defeated Delta to bring the teams overall season record to 5-0.

Chelsey Warburton stepped up to assist the Dinos in the region victory by posting eight kills.

Brittany Pollastro also had a tremendous game as she had eight service points to help the Dinos advance in the standings.

Next up on the Dinos schedule is Emery. Carbon will travel south to take on the Spartans Tuesday evening. Game time is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. and it sure to be a competitive match up.

The Dinos will then bounce back to compete against North Sanpete Thursday evening during a road game. The Dinos will return to their homecourt Oct. 22 as they take on Lehi.

The season is midway over and the Dinos are looking forward to competing in post season action.

With only four games left to play, the Dinos intend to make the state tournament ranked numer one in the Region 8 standings.

The red hot Dinos will continue their march to a state championship as the team remains focused and determined to win each match up that comes their way.
