Despite one of the best seasons ever for the CEU Golden Eagle volleyball team, the first round of the Scenic Athletic Tournament was not what they had hoped for. The Snow Badgers took CEU out in four, 18-25, 25-19, 19-25 and 21-25.

For Coach Brent Martindale it was a bit of a disappointing end to the great season overall.

"We had (Snow) back on their heels, but unforced errors on our part took us out of it. It's hard when all of our big hitters go flat at the same time. But what do you do? We had a great season and I am proud of this group of players. They worked hard and stepped up when we needed them to."

In the match with Snow, Barbara Jardin led the team with 12 kills and Sabrina Simas added nine. Alexsis Adams pulled out 14 defensive digs and Cami Hussey had 11. Julia Potts dished 31 set assists and Megan Gravin was hot on the line with three service aces. Snow went on to defeat to SLCC. Salt Lake then played College of Southern Idaho for the championship. It is the first time CEU has had a player make 1st team (Jardim), it is the first time CEU has had players make all-region two seasons in a row (Adams and Garvin) and it is the most players (5) CEU has had named to all-region.

It was Salt Lake that took the tournament championship and moves to a play-off match and to the national tournament.
