GREEN RIVER- Children, husband, father, and loving relatives welcomed Leona Gwen Weihing home on Oct. 23, 2009. Gwen passed away of complications after surgery. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend.
Gwen was born May 20, 1941 in Price to Ellis and Ellen Dimick Peacock. She was raised in Dragerton, until her teenage years when her family moved to Green River. Along her journey, she met and married Kenneth Wilkinson who she quickly divorced. Gwen then found and married the love of her life, Charles Fredrick Weihing, Sr. with whom she and their children were sealed to in the Manti Temple. After Fred's death, Gwen married and divorced George Wareham and Jerome "Dan" Wright. Gwen lived in Gateway, CO, Provo, Dillon, MT, Syracuse, Blanding, West Valley City, Payson and Palm Desert, CA, but Green River was always home.
In her zest for life, she enjoyed dancing, laughter, roses, and love. Gwen's compassion to help others only increased when she became an EMT and served for over 20 years. She was passionate about living a full life and spent much time riding horses, rock hunting, fishing, and camping. But most of all, she was a mother to everyone she met. She opened her home, arms, and heart to everyone that knew her.
She will be missed by her children, Charles "Freddie" (Kori) of Las Vegas, Nev, Larry (Trent) of Heber City, Tina Stimpson (Todd) of San Francisco, Calif, and Lesa (Dan) of Green River, her mother, Ellen, her siblings, Barbara Cartwright, James Peacock, Becky Chappell and Tammie Frost, her 10 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
A viewing will be held Thursday Oct. 29 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Green River LDS Church, 101 N. Clark St in Green River. Funeral Services will be held Friday Oct. 30 at 11 a.m. in the Green River LDS Church. Interment to follow at Elgin Cemetery in Green River. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price.
The family would like to thank St. Mary's Hospital and their staff, with an extra special thanks to Dr. Tice, Lillard, and Tarpey and Nurses, Jennifer, Becky, and Sarah for their tender loving care.
Those wishing to express condolences please remember what you have been given and give without remembering as Gwen would.
