It was a tough weekend for the Eagles but it also had some bright spots as well. Snow took advantage of their home crowd and downed the Eagles in three. But CEU traveled north and came out hard against an even tougher opponent to win the first game before succumbing to Salt Lake Community College in the final three sets.

On Friday, Oct. 16 the Eagles had to head to Ephraim. This would be the third match-up between the teams this season. The previous two meetings CEU came out on top. This time Snow was at home and it made the difference. Fresh off two wins the previous weekend, the Eagles could not maintain the momentum and lost in three straight sets; 24 - 26, 18- 25 and 22- 25.

"We didn't play bad; in fact I thought we played pretty well, but Snow stepped it up and played better. They were at home and I guess they wanted it just a little more than we did," commented Coach Brent Martindale.

On Saturday CEU seized the opportunity to jump out quickly on the SLCC team. In set one the Eagles surprised the top ranked team with a decisive 25-15 win. CEU's two Brazilian players, Sabrina Simas and Barbara Jardin accounted for 75 percent of the Eagle offense with 28 kills between them. But the Bruins are a great team and rebounded to take the next three straight and the match.

"Again we played some great volleyball. We certainly caught them off guard in game one, but then they woke up. Their coach was impressed and asked if we had played this hard against Snow. I said we had but lost anyway."

The final home matches for the season are this weekend at the BDAC. CEU will take on the Idaho teams of CSI at 7 p.m. on Friday and NIC at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
