Sports passions come in all shapes and sizes. For four Carbon County youth, bowling is their passion. The four have connected up with the United States Bowling Congress (USBC) to participate in their bowling program geared to high school students.

Mario Gurule, Anthony Procarione, Dakota Andrews and Roy Austin competed last year as a team and in singles and doubles competition on a state level. They took first as a team in division three. Austin and Andrews were third in the doubles. Andrews was first in scratch and second in the singles competition. Andrews place third in the singles and Gurule was fourth.

They spend most of the year practicing for the meet that takes place in March. Gurule also heads to Vegas for tournaments to keep himself sharp. The team is sponsored by Jensen Country lanes.

They are hoping to gain some new team mates for this year. They have just started practicing for the spring tournament. They are at Jensen Lanes in Carbonville at 4 p.m. on Thursdays and anyone can came join them. When they are not officially practicing, they are having fun bowling until midnight on Friday nights.

The USBC advertises that there are thousands in scholarship money available for those involved. As of yet, the team is not sure if they have qualified for any, but are looking into it.
