Tough loss for soccer, stung by Wasps

Region play is winding down on the soccer field. The Carbon girls soccer team played its second to the last regular season game on Tuesday against powerful Wasatch High and lost 4-0.

The Wasps scored three goals in the first half of play. They only managed one in the final minutes as the Carbon defense played some of strongest defense seen this season. The Dino offense had some chances, but just couldn't penetrate the Wasp's line to avoid the shut out. Carbon's most prolific scorer, Felicia Olmos, is out for the rest of the season with a knee injury suffered earlier against Union.

Coach Jerad Upwall was upbeat even after the loss because he sees the steady improvement his team has made over the course of the season.

A few early season matches had the Lady Dinos being blown out by the better teams. So seeing his defense hold a great team like Wasatch to only four goals is a big step.

The Dinos play Park City in their final region match. If they stayed tied with ALA, as they currently are, then a play-off game between the two will decide who goes into the first round of the play-offs. No time, place or date has been determined for the game.
