The CEU Golden Eagles knew their first conference game on Friday night was going to be a killer. Salt Lake Community College is ranked sixth in the nation in NJCAA volleyball.

It only took three quick games for SLCC to show it as they downed CEU 25-15, 25-7 and 25-17 to open conference action.

But CEU rebounded on Saturday afternoon with a four set win over Snow.

The Eagles beat Snow 23-25, 25-19, 25-17 and 25-20 to even out their conference record at 1-1.

The Bruins showed why they are so highly ranked on Friday night by controlling each set with ease.

CEU was coming off a seven game tournament sweep and was full of confidence, but SLCC had their A-game out and made the Eagles work for every point. Megan Garvin and Barbara Jardim managed seven kills each and Julia Potts had 16 set assists in the three set loss.

Saturday was another day and another team. CEU started slow but game one stayed close with the Badgers edging out the Eagles for the win. But after that it was CEU that had the momentum and control and they took the final three sets to nab a coveted conference win.

Jardim tripled her kills from the previous night with 21. Garvin added nine kills and four service aces to help the cause. Alexis Adams also stepped up with nine kills and fought for 15 defensive digs.

The Eagles head north to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho to take on NIC on Oct. 1 then to Twin Falls to play CSI on Oct. 3. They will be at home on Oct. 9 to take on CNCC at 7 p.m. at the B-DAC.
