The conclusion of the Miss Carbon County pageant has brought forth Kelli Dougal as the new Miss Carbon County. While the competition itself was a fast paced event, Miss Dougal will be in for the long haul attending ribbon cuttings and other events throughout the next year. Her first appearance will be at the the Southastern Utah Energy Producers Association show and banquet on Oct. 1.

"I thought the pageant was very successful, we had a great turnout and things ran smoothly, " said director Becky Noyes.

The runner up was Whitney Ison. Ariel Dye was crowned Miss Congeniality. The pageant itself included a variety of dances songs and piano recitals with every contestant showing a strong performance.

Former Miss Carbon County (2008-09) Kristena Scow's parting words gave encouragement to present and future contestants.

"All I can really say is that girls in Carbon County rock," said Miss Scow after the competition.

The winner automatically qualifies for the Miss Utah Pageant as well as the Miss America Pageant. Miss Dougal was able to win over the judges with her overall performance which included a piano piece as well as a coordinated dance routine with the other contestants.
