Patriot Day celebrated in various ways in county

Murphy, a golden retriever, buzzes by as students from Brenna Penrey's kindergarten class at Wellington Elementary follow him in a Patriotic march on Friday in commemoration of Patriots Day (the anniversary of 9-11). The students had Murphy and his adopted brother Logan, another golden retriever, visit their classroom so they could talk about how dogs can be heroes to people too. Across the county people remembered 9-11 in their different ways, some quietly, others in discussion in groups or at more formal gatherings.
