PRICE/PALM CITY, Fla. - The world's greatest Dad, Robert Charles 'Bob' Powell, died at the age of 75 on July 19, 2009.

He was born Sept. 13, 1933 in Seattle, Wash., and grew up in southern California.

In 1953, he joined the U.S. Air Force and served as a radio operator in Libya, North Africa, until he was honorably discharged in 1956. He then worked as an electrician at Vandenberg Air Force base.

He later worked directly on the Athena missile project through the White Sands Missile Base in Green River while living in Moab.

He was superintendent for Price city parks, recreation and cemetery for over 20 years. He retired a few years after our mom died.

He loved sailing, camping, gardening, music (especially classical), playing Bridge, four-wheeling in the desert, reading or just tinkering around in his workshop.

No one had cleaner, better maintained cars than our Dad.

He loved animals, especially dogs and cats, and he always had a pet to look after.

He loved his grandkids and he loved us girls.

We are all missing him so much.

He was preceded in death by our mom, the love of his life, Kaye Powell. She was his soulmate and he never found true love again. He also suffered the death of his daughter, Stacey. He is survived by his daughters, Denise Eaquinta and her two sons Colin and Cade; Patti Powell and her two children, Karissa and Trevor; Polli Schmutz, her husband Kelly and their two children, Jacob and Sarah; his grandchildren, Stacey, Jana and Alex Tilton; and Cameron and Kayela Covert; his sister, Mary Powell; and his dog, Misty.

He will be buried Aug. 7 at 10 a.m. in the Price City Cemetery. He requested no services or fuss be made so we are honoring his wishes.
