The Carbon High boy's golf team played two matches last week to start off the season. According to Coach Tony Pinedo they went very well. The Dinos lost an ill fated meet with Spanish Fork by two strokes. Then they began region action on Thursday and finished with second place.

On Wednesday Carbon played Spanish Fork on their home course.

Jordan Pinedo was the medalist for the match and finished with a one under par, 71. Gage Bigelow ended at 82, Geoff Vogel with 86 and Corbin Black had an 87.

Thursday had the Dinos in their first region match at Schneiter's Bluff in West Point (by Layton). The team played really well but Park City was better and won the match. Carbon took second with a team total of 311. Park City's team total 301 topped the competition. Union took third place and shot a 321. Wasatch finished with a 333 and fourth. ALA only had one golfer participate so they didn't have a team score.

Jordan Pinedo led the team with a score of 76 and was in second place overall for the region match. Black and Bigelow both shot 78. Justin Child finished with a 79. Vogel had an 84 on his score card followed by Jeron McCourt at 85. Josh Greenwood and Kody Henrie both shot 86.

Coach Pinedo summed up the week's action, "I think that the competition in this region will prepare our team better for the state tournament. Each week all the teams will be pushing each other."
