HURRICANE - A man of principle and integrity, E. Taylor Petersen, age 74, passed away July 30, 2009 peacefully at his home in Hurricane after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born April 3, 1935 in Helper, the second child of Elmer (Bud) Petersen and Leah Eleanor Taylor Petersen.
He is survived by his spouse, Norma Jean Petersen of Hurricane; and his children, Teri Lyn Harris of Henderson, Nev.; Linda Edie of Hurricane; Mimi Heckaman of San Diego, Calif.; Mark Petersen of San Diego, Calif.; and Pamela Walden of Simi Valley, Calif.; 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Trish Lunelli of Price; Bonnie Miner of Bellevue, Wash.; and his brother, Robert Petersen of Hurricane.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Aug. 6, at noon at the Sky Mountain Chapel, 452 N. 2600 West, Hurricane. Friends and family may call Wednesday, Aug. 5, from 7 to 8 p.m. at Spilsbury Mortuary, 110 S. Bluff Street, St. George, and Thursday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. prior to services at the chapel. Interment will take place in the Springdale Cemetery.
