El JEBEL, Colo. - Ian Fearon, 62, of El Jebel, Colo., passed away at University of Colorado Hospital on July 20, 2009 surrounded by his loving family.
He was born Sept. 25, 1946 to John and Catherine (Carson) Fearon in Kincardine, Scotland. On Oct. 21, 1967, he married Dorothy Paterson in Tillicoultry, Scotland.
Ian immigrated to the U.S.A. with his family on July 3, 1979.
He worked with Kaiser Steel Coal mines in Sunnyside until 1984. He and his family then moved to El Jebel, Colo., where he worked with Mid-Continent Coal mines until they closed. He then worked for Columbine Moving and Storage in Aspen, Colo., and most recently, WindRiver Trees.
He loved camping, fishing, boating and family activities.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father and infant sister, Marie. He is survived by his sister, Kathleen Murdoch; nephews, Andrew and Stuart in Scotland; his loving wife of 42 years, Dorothy; daughters, Jacqueline (Danny) Maldonado, Tracey (Matt) Stecklein, Elaina Fearon and her fiance, Bob Pelfrey; grandchildren, Daniel, Kathleen, Lane and Paige; and father-in law, David Paterson.
A viewing is planned for 10 a.m. Saturday July 25, at St. Vincents' Catholic Church on Midland Avenue Basalt. Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11 a.m., after which burial will be at Basalt Cemetery. Farnum Holt will be entrusted with the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fearon family to defray medical expenses or the American Cancer Society (Relay For Life).
