Letter to the editor: County did it right
I am the Operations Director of the Western Energy Training Center (WETC). We are a part of CEU and located at the old Willow Creek Mine site, just above the Carbon Power Plant.
Recently we had some flooding which carried a huge amount of debris and threatened to block a culvert, destroy our only access road and it threatened the power plant as well.
I requested assistance from Carbon County. Their response was prompt and the problem was quickly solved thanks to the professionalism of the workers. They removed an amazing amount of material in just two days. The material was retained on site to be recycled. Commissioner Krompel was instrumental in the effort and asked for nothing in return except for some extra safety training for his crews.
It small rural communities it is vital that there be supportive governmental interactions. This was a great example of that.
