Barracudas swim on with new members, make waves, good times
The Barracuda swim team hosted a meet on July11in which they were dominated against the Vernal Vipers and the Delta DAYO. The Barracudas scored 2,098 points while Vernal earned 725 with Delta coming up last with 574.
The Barracuda team has grown tremendously. They had 33 swimmers compete at this meet which composed almost the entire team. For some of the swimmers this is only their first or second competitive meet.
This was true for Allison Olson, age seven. She is the youngest swimmer for the Baracudas and for her first meet, according to Kamra Davis she swam like a champ, bringing home third in the free and back. Elley Cowdell, age eight, also her swam first meet took an impressive first in breast and second in free and back.
A new face to the team on her second meet was Talley Larsen, age eight. She swam to victory, winning both free, and back.
For the nine to 10 year old group, Addy Olson dominated her age group with first in free, back, IM and breast. Veronica Ibanez also on her first year swimming has impressed her coach tremendously. She finished second in fly, third in free, and IM, and fifth in the back, and breast. Grace Mantz hasn't been able to practice much, but she showed that she still has what it takes to place first in the fly, second in back, and fourth in the free and breast.
Eliza Krum placed fourth in the fly, fifth in the free and fly, and tied for sixth in the back. Olivia Black took sixth in both the free and back. Taycie Davis placed eighth in the free fifth in the fly, and ninth in the breast.
For the Barracudas the biggest and toughest age group are the eleven twelve year olds. Bringing home first in all her events, including the fly, back, and free was Tati Larsen. Giving Tati a run for her money and stirring up a fun rivalry was Danni Noyes. Noyes finished second in the fly and back, and third in the free with energy to spare.
Ali Heath finished second in free, and third in fly. Dakota Noyes finished four in the free, and back, and third in the breast. Heidi Prettyman captured first in the breast and I.M.
Prettyman also took fourth in the fly, and fifth in the free and back. Sara Morley finished third in the back, fifth in the fly, and sixth in the free. Abigail Krum was swimming for the first time in her new age group. She showed that she is ready to move up with a fifth in the breast and seventh in the free and back.
For the boys there were two new swimmers. Both have only been on the team a few weeks. Gabe Vandyke took third in the free and second in breast. Adam Bone took fourth in the free and breast.
In the 13 to 14 age group, Brittney Willson finished first in free, back I.M. She also finished a very close second in breast. Heather Bone finished third in free and fifth in breast. Stephanie Giacoletto placed second in the back and sixth in the breast while only swimming in her second meet ever.
The boys had one swimmer in the age group. Thory Vandyke took home second in the breast.
For the 15 to 18 age girls Jill Malone placed first in the free, second in the back,third in the breast, fourth in the fly, and fifth in the I.M. Kenzie Mantz finished third in the free, first in the breast and fourth in the I.M. Aysha Black garnered a second in the breast, third in the fly and I.M and fourth in the free. Katie Torres was fifth in the free and fly.
For the boys, Brett Davis captured third in the free, fly, and back, second in the I.M. and fourth in the breast. Kaeden Kulow took fourth in the free, and I.M. and second in the back. Nick Torres placed fifth in the free, third in the I.M. and breast.
Coach Davis summed it up, "Our swimmer were awesome! We are getting ready for our end of the season Invitational meet in Richfield on July 17 and 18. There will be over two hundred swimmers competing.GOOD LUCK!"
