Deadline for FYI - is Tuesday at noon.

Submissions may be sent by regular mail, dropped off at the office at 845 East Main in Price or emailed to fyi@sunad.com.

All news items are subject to editing. First and last names are required for telephone numbers. The FYI sections are published on a space permitting basis.

Carbon fair, rodeo queen contest - is slated July 19 at 6 p.m. at the county fairgrounds. Pre-registration is preferred.

Age groups include 7 to 10, 11 to 13 and 14 years or older. Entry forms may be picked up and returned to IFA in Price. Registration deadline is July 17. Western apparel is required.

Wellington Mountaineers Rodeo - The event is scheduled July 24 and July 25 at the Wellington arena. The pre-rodeo will start at 7 p.m. For information, contact Helene Majors at 637-3759.

Food handlers classes - Two-hour sessions are scheduled Aug. 11 and Sept. 8 at 9 a.m., 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. at Southeastern Utah Health District in Price. Classes will also be taught Aug. 12 and Sept. 9 at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the health department in Castle Dale.

Miss Carbon County - Young women between the ages of 17 and 23 interested in competing for the title are encouraged to call Becky Noyes at 650-9857 or contact Connie Ware. The pageant is scheduled Sept. 12.

County fair antique and swap meet - Hosted by United Way, the event will be presented Aug. 7 and Aug. 8.

Carbon County Triad - meets the first Wednesday of the month at 1:30 p.m. at the Price public safety dispatch center.

Members focus on law enforcement and aging programs to assist the elderly.

Immunization clinic hours - Clinics are scheduled at Southeastern Utah Health District Monday through Thursday from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. For information, contact the public health department at 637-3671.

Women's cancer screening - Women 50 years of age or older may qualify for free breast and cervical cancer exams and mammograms.

Women ages 40 to 49 may qualify for a low-cost exam. For information, call the public health district at 637-3671.

Free legal clinics - Utah Legal Services has scheduled free clinics the second and fourth Monday of the month from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the 7th District Court complex, located at 149 East 100 South in Price.

Carbon County Animal Shelter - AVID chip pet identification is available at the shelter. Hours are Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Carbon County Family Support and Children's Justice Center - offers crisis care for families with children from infants to 11 years old. The crisis nursery is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Residents may use the nursery for respite, doctor and mental health appointments, court appearances, medical emergencies, family crisis, support meetings, divorce classes and to escape domestic violence.

Parenting classes are scheduled Thursday at 1:30 p.m. For information, call the center at 636-3739.

Price library - Hours are Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 6:45 p.m., Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., closed Saturday and Sunday.

Story time is scheduled Monday at 11 a.m. for toddlers, Tuesday and Wednesday at 5 p.m. and Thursday at 1 p.m.

English as a second language classes are Monday and Thursday at 6 p.m. Basic literacy classes are scheduled as needed.

Helper library - Hours are Monday through Thursday, noon to 6 p.m.; Friday, noon to 4 p.m.; and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

CEU Library - Hours are Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; closed Saturday; and Sunday from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. Hours vary during holiday weekends, school breaks and summer semesters.
