I always enjoy reading Tom McCourt's columns and was glad to hear someone tell it like it is on the cap and trade bill, which is currently before the US Senate (June 30, 2009).

If this bill passes it means certain destruction for Carbon County. This shouldn't be a surprise to any of us. Obama clearly stated his goal to bankrupt the mining and drilling industries throughout his campaign.

I'm still amazed that nearly half the voters in this county cast their ballots for Obama. They must have jobs elsewhere. Change we can believe in? If this bill passes, Carbon County will be in for a whole lot of change.

Do not sit back and let this bill pass. Call, write or email your senators and let them know what this will do to your job, your business, your cost of living, your way of life, your home.
