A special fishing event for people with disabilities is slated June 27 at the Gigliotti Pond in Helper.

The activity will run from 9 a.m. until noon, according to the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources.

The event is intended for persons with disabilities of all ages. Care givers are also welcome to attend.

DWR officials are asking the general angling public to fish elsewhere during the three-hour event.

Along with the DWR, the activity is being sponsored by the Skyline Mine and the United States Forest Service.

Food and drinks will be provided by the mine. The USFS will provide prizes for participants. The DWR will loan fishing rods and reels for participants who do not have the gear. Sponsors will have people on hand to help participants who need assistance.

Although pre-registration is not required, participants are encouraged to give advance notice to Kevin Albrecht at 435-384-2372.
