On Monday the Helper American Legion took on Granger in their second league game of the season. The team is now two for two in league play as they beat Granger 12 to three with the game being called in the sixth inning on account of the nine run rule.

Josh Denison pitched and had a good performance on short rest. He had pitched six innings on Friday in the Idaho tournament and came back on Monday to pitch five solid innings. Colter Moore came in to close things out in Granger's sixth inning.

After struggling through the weekend tournament against left handed pitchers, the hits were much more plentiful off Grangers left hander, with Helper's offense pounding out 12 hits.

Helper's defense committed four errors, which Coach Jeff Cisneros believes is something they are still working on.

Hayden Basinger, Danny Flahie and Kash Jewkes all had at least two hits in the game with a handful of other players having only one.

"Everyone got a chance to bat at lease once this game and for the most part everyone looked much more comfortable and relaxed than we did in Idaho," commented Cisneros after the game, "Good pitching, decent defense and more hitting were all reasons for us picking up our second league win and running our league record two to zero."

Helper traveled to Hunter Wednesday for a league game and then will be back home Monday night at 7 pm for a league game with the combined Murray and Olympus teams known as the Spartans. Next week will be a very busy week for the team as they have six games including the Helper tournament.

The Helper tournament starts Thursday, June 25 and runs through Sunday June 28 with games on the Helper American Legion Field. The team is encouraging the community to come out and support the local players.
