Anticipation and excitement is higher than ever as aspiring country music artists prepare for the 28th Annual Colgate Country Showdown. KARB Kickin' Country and KOAL 750AM will host America's largest country music talent search and radio promotion.

"Because of the success of the last two years shows, we will be holding a Preliminary Showdown at the Price Peace Gardens on Thursday, July 9th from 6pm - 9pm", states Ann Anderson, Promotions Director for Castle Country Radio. "Six finalist will be chosen from the Preliminary Showdown to compete for the Final which will be held on Friday, July 31st during International Days at Price City Park".

"In addition to the Showdown that will be held in Price, this year we are holding an additional Showdown in Castle Dale on Friday, August 7th, during the Emery County Fair. We were approached by the Emery County Fair committee and asked if we could bring the Showdown to their area as well. We are very excited about this second Showdown."

Acts will compete for the opportunity to perform at the Colorado State Colgate Country Showdown where they will vie for a $1,000 cash prize and will advance to a regional competition in the fall. The five regional winners are awarded an all-expense paid trip to the national final where they will compete for the $100,000 grand prize and the national title.

The Colgate Country Showdown gives aspiring country music artists in America a chance to launch their professional careers. Audiences may be seeing, hearing and applauding the next country music star.

The Colgate Country Showdown is open to vocal and/or instrumental performers, and welcomes individual acts or groups with up to seven members to compete. Acts also must not have performed on a record charted in the top 100 country format of Billboard, Radio and Records, or the Gavin Report within eighteen months preceding the local competition. To ensure fairness, a uniform judging system is used on all levels of competition. A $15.00 entry fee is required of all contestants entering the Colgate Country Showdown competitions produced by participating country music radio stations.

Entry forms are still available at KARB Kickin' Country/KOAL/KRPX radio stations on Carbonville Road or on their website at www.castlecountryradio.com

If you have any questions about the Colgate Country Showdown, call Ann Anderson at Castle Country Radio Station Studios at 637-1167.

Entries must be received no later than July 1st.
