Price's American Legion team headed North for the second weekend in a row last week. Playing in cold, wet and miserable conditions they won the middle game out of three in the tournament they went to.

The first loss was a 17-7 defeat at the hands of Colorado Springs (Colo.). They came back and took their game against Cheyenne (Wyo.) by the score of 15-5. But in the final game, fatigue again set in with the cold and they went down hard to Evanston (Wyo.), 19-3.

Coach Willie Ellington did not make excuses for his team. He knew that despite the weather, all the teams faced the same conditions.

In game one, he really felt the score did not tell the tale of the game. Even though starting pitcher Tyson Dameron gave up five quick runs, mostly on homers to their opponent, Price held their own. They only trailed by a run in the sixth. With the score 8-7, Colorado Springs exploded with their bats and sent the ball over the fence several more times to end the contest. But over all it was the solid defense for Price that helped them stay in until the late innings.

In game two, Levi Graff took the mound and pitched a complete game for the win. Joe Lopez sent a monster grand slam over the fence for the offense and it was all Price needed as they shut down Cheyenne.

Finally after a one hour delay for weather, the worn out Price team took to the field, but left their offense behind. They played fairly good defense, but were unable to get any key hits to get the runs across.

"You just can't win many games with only three hits, especially if we are giving up a lot," said Coach Ellington. "Overall I was pleased. We are starting to come together as a team. Our pitchers need to learn that throwing strikes is not always a good thing when they are facing good hitters like we did against Colorado and Evanston."

Price will host Evanston at home on June 11, Vernal on June 12 and then head to Rock Springs, Wyo. on Friday for a pair.
