SPRING CREEK, Nev. - Michael Alan Houskeeper, 43 of Spring Creek, Nev., died Saturday, May 23, 2009, in Salt Lake City.
Mike was born July 17, 1965 in Dover, Del., the son of Bud Houskeeper and Carol Simmons.
Mike was raised in Wellington and graduated from Carbon High School in Price. He attended DeVry Institute of Technology in Phoenix, Ariz., and studied electrical engineering.
Mike worked in the coal mining industry in Price when he met and married his devoted wife of 20 years, Amy Rendon Houskeeper. They had two daughters, Lauren and Kristen.
The family moved to Spring Creek, Nev., when Mike began working in the gold mining industry in 2001. He was employed by Small Mine Development Company.
Mike was a loving, compassionate husband and father.
He had a phenomenal sense of humor, coupled with intelligence that won him many friends.
He had a passion for the outdoors. Whether hunting, fishing or camping, he was a part of nature. One of his favorite pastimes was Lake Powell, on a beach or boat with family and friends.
Mike lived his life to the fullest and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Amy; his daughters, Lauren and Kristen; mother, Carol (T. Lee) McCarthy; his brothers, Jon Houskeeper and Zach (Stephanie) Houskeeper; sisters, Karen (Scott) Brown, Deidre (Bill) Axelsen, Dawn (Mike) Miera, Tammy (Wade) Reed and Brittany (Scott) Rudd; his father-in-law, Francis T. Rendon; mother-in-law, Geraldine S. Rendon; brothers-in-law, Anthony and Ray Rendon; sister-in-law, Jerri Rendon; brother-in-law, Randy (Leslee) Rendon; sister-in-law Connie (Randy) Burgess; 14 nieces and six nephews. Mike was preceded in death by his father, Bud Houskeeper.
Funeral service for Mike will be Saturday, May 30, at 8:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 340 W Fir Street, Elko, Nev. Deacon Cecil Gingerich will officiate.
