May Marchello is pictured with her "Best of Show" afghan and tablecloth she crocheted at the local senior center.

The Price senior center is buzzing with activity this time of year and gathered in one of the large meeting rooms every Tuesday morning one will find a group of busy ladies keeping their fingers moving. The women gather together to crochet and sit around tables with needles and rolls of yarn and projects in a variety of completed stages, some trailing to floor level.

Although the women are busy preparing for the fall bazaars and the upcoming holidays, they also stay busy creating beautiful afghans, tablecloths, lace collars and wall hangings. They work quickly and quietly, but each is always willing to help another out with new ideas and new patterns.

They may be busy for the upcoming holidays but some of the women just returned from winning at the local Carbon County Fair and the State Fair. Sisters May Marchello and Elnora Clark were two of the big winners. Two of May's entries in the local fair both won her blue ribbons and the Afghan was the "Best of Show" at the fair. May is also wearing a lace collar, a project she began to assist women who dress the pioneer role and also accent temple dresses.

Elnora won a blue ribbon at the local fair and placed third at the state fair with her large Indian theme piece.

For more information on the crocheting group, contact the senior center at 637-5080.
