The Carbon girl's golf team continues to improve as they posted a tie with Juan Diego in the only home tournament of the season for the team.

Four region teams faced off on the Carbon Country Club course on Monday and Carbon took advantage of the familiar course and posted some great scores.

The girls posted a team score of 84 points to tie for first place with Juan Diego. Kelcy Otani made 34 points, Lexi Gagon 31 and Sam Jones made 19 points. Kelcy Otani should move into solo possession of first place in the region. She had been in a tie for first. Gagon is also expected to climb in the individual stats.

"Once again the girls played great. I am just amazed at the desire to play and the dedication these girls have for the game of golf and their team," stated coach Kenji Otani afterwards.

The team has one more nine hole region tournament at Salem Hills before the region meet on May 7.

That one will be an 18 hole tournament to qualify for state.
