Letter to the editor: In reponse
I am writing in response to the "Taking pride in the area where you live" column that was in the Sun Advocate on April 21.
It amazes me when people tell me they can't stand it here. I think people who were born here, take this place for granted. To me this is the best place in the world to live.
First of all, look around. The beauty of the landscape. The people are so friendly and family oriented. We don't have to stay indoors because of smog. We don't' have to look over our shoulders when we go shopping.
Most of all we don't have to travel far to do outdoor things like hiking, fishing and camping. We also don't have to pay an entrance fee to do those things.
I was recently in Southern California's Big Bear. On the side of the road was a sign saying "no stopping without checking in at ranger station".
I grew up in Southern California and to me the best place in the world is Carbon County.
What can't I do here that I could do there? Go out to eat at 2 a.m.
If you expand your horizons and your mind you can find something to do here.
If you can't you just aren't trying or nothing will make you happy.
