For the Carbon Dinos, it felt like a must win game. North Sanpete has been struggling this season and a loss to them would have really put the Dinos on a downward slide. But when their backs were against the wall the Dinos pulled a great come from behind win out of their pockets and downed the Hawks 12-5 on Friday.

Josh Denison took the mound and had a rocky start. The Hawks scored in all of the first three innings and were up 4-1. They seemed to have control of the game.

On offense the Dino batters were having trouble making solid contact. But in the fourth the fortunes changed. Denison settled down and the defense behind him helped out. North Sanpete sat down without a score. Carbon came to bat and sophomore Julian Tamllos got things going with a double. Before it was over the score was tied.

Austin Davis came on in relief in the fifth inning. The Dinos went ahead in the fifth, but the Hawks tied it in the sixth. Carbon's offense exploded in the sixth and scored seven to seal the deal.

Beau Rich had a double and a home run. Tamllos, in his first varsity start, had a pair of doubles and a critical walk. Daniel Peczuh went 3-4 and also had two doubles. Lance Deeter was three for three and a pair of walks to get on base all five times he was at the plate. Denison helped himself by showing great patience at the plate and drawing four walks.

Coach Troy Moynier expressed relief in the win.

"Finally," he said. "I was a bit nervous for a while but they came through in great fashion. I could just go down the line-up and talk about how each of them contributed. This was a big win and we needed it. Next week will be tough because we start off with Emery on the road and then travel to Juan Diego. We finish off with two games against Salem Hills. We need to take a few of these games, especially the ones against Emery and Salem who are right ahead of us in the standings."

He continued talking about the future part of the season.

"It is going to take some great ball playing on the part of our team to move up, but we can do it."

Next week the Dinos are on the road with a Tuesday game at Emery and a Thursday game at Juan Diego.
