CASTLE DALE - Andrew F. Stofko, age 80, passed away peacefully Friday, April 10, 2009, at his home.
He was born Dec. 6, 1928 in Nameoki, Ill., to Andrew John and Helen Kalaskie Stofko.
In 1945, Andrew enlisted in the Merchant Marines where he honorably served his country.
After returning from the military, Andrew went to work on the family farm in Illinois. On June 24, 1950, he married Della Jeannean Sellier at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Brighton, Ill.
Shortly after their marriage, he began his lifelong trek as a truck driver.Â
Over the next 40 years, the family moved extensively prior to his retirement from PIE Trucking in 1990.
In 1993, the family moved to Castle Dale, where he enjoyed his retirement and many special friends and neighbors.
He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, and taking great pride in his home and garden.
Survived by his wonderful wife, Jeannean Stofko, Castle Dale; daughter, Joellen (James) Benhart, Geneseo, Ill.; sons, Steve and Dale Stofko, both of Castle Dale; daughter-in-law, Lois Stofko, Castle Dale; grandchildren, Rick (Renee), Jeanie (Ian), Jamie, Stephine and Jake; and great-grandchildren, Andrew, Mitchel and Samantha. He was preceded in death by his parents; and son, Jerry Stofko.
Graveside service Friday, April 17, 10 a.m., Castle Dale Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price.
