Dinos trample Hawks
By TERRY WILLIS Sun Advocate reporter
The Carbon baseball team had their bats rolling and their defense solid as they rolled over North Sanpete on Tuesday afternoon on the road. Carbon came out with a 10-1 win over the Hawks to move into a first place tie with rival Emery.
Coach Troy Moynier felt like his team played some really good defense in the game as they held the Hawks to only one run in the second inning. Carbon had already put up a pair of runs and never trailed the entire game.
The Dinos added a run in the third, fifth and sixth before exploding with a five spot in the seventh. Beau Rich, Lance Deeter, Josh Dennison Keny Seals and Austin Davis all picked up RBI's in the offensive drive to victory. Rich was only a homer away from hitting for the cycle with a single, double and triple to his credit.
"We really spread out the hitting again. We had 14 hits, but we left 11 on base again. That's still too many. We left out big inning to the end again. We missed some big scoring opportunities early. We have out work cut out for us against Emery today (Wednesday). The teams we've beat so far are not the best, but we can do it if we play good defense then our offense follows."
The team played Emery on Wednesday in a home game. Results will be in next weeks sports. The team will take on Juan Diego on the road next Tuesday.
