Law enforcement and local emergency response personnel participate in a specially planned patriotic event at Wellington Elementary. The school presented the program on the grounds in front of the building Wednesday morning to honor the first responders in the community as well as observe the anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on New York City and Washington, D.C. School children sang songs and conducted a flag ceremony. Similar activities were staged in various parts of the county and by various agencies to commemorate what has become known as Patriots Day.
