Trailing the College of Southern Idaho by three games in the Scenic West Athletic Conference standings, last weekends games could have been a great chance to gain some ground. But instead the College of Eastern Utah Golden Eagles were just glad to get the weekend behind them as they dropped all four games to CSI.

Friday's games looked more like football scores than baseball as CSI downed CEU 18-7 and then 22-10. On Saturday the Eagles made it a bit closer, but it was still an offensive showdown with losses of 9-7 and 10-7.

On Friday, Kyler Edgehouse started the game and things were close for four innings. However, by the sixth inning it was all over as CSI broke it open with a grand slam and posted five runs.

In the second game of the day, CSI put up at least three in each inning and had the game pretty much sewed up with 14 before CEU had a nine run fourth inning to try and climb back in it. But CSI kept adding runs and ended up with 22 before it was said and done.

Saturday's opening game again saw CSI putting up runs in almost every inning. CEU had another big inning to put themselves back in the game and tied it up with a seven run sixth. CSI posted two more in the seventh to keep their winning streak over the Golden Eagles intact.

With one more chance to change their fortunes, CEU took their first lead of the series in the third inning of the final game. CSI tied it up in the fourth but the Eagles tacked one on to regain the advantage in the bottom half of the frame.

CSI went ahead in the top fifth and then CEU tied it again. But CSI scored three in the seventh and completed their sweep.

The Eagles now travel to Carson City, Nev. to play a four game set against Western Nevada Community College this weekend.
